Can I opt out of paying towards my UK state pension if I don’t intend to get one? I question as I’m a New Zealand national currently working in the UK. I have been here for 3 years and intend to go home in one year. I will not be eligible for a state pension so do I need to keep paying contributions under my NI?

If you are living and working in the UK you are liable to pay National Insurance and can’t opt out. If you eventually return to New Zealand you may be able to have the National Insurance that you paid in the UK taken into account for the calculation of your future pension in New Zealand as there is a reciprocal agreement between the UK and other Commonwealth countries.
